Internal employee communications – I worked for a large, global insurance company, giving expert strategic communications advice and consultancy to senior business leaders….. to ensure the company’s business objectives were understood, in a clear and easy to understand manner. As well as informing and educating employees about company policy, latest news and general information, the communications were also aimed at building the company’s brand and reputation.
Risk and Crisis Communications – I have worked on crisis communications across the UK on Data Security projects, delivering timely information to 7000 employees. Communications also included informing and engaging employees of the latest regulatory requirements and their responsibilities in protecting customer data.
Business Continuity – Linked to risk and crisis communications, I managed the Business Continuity plans and procedures for the UK, ensuring that all employees understood and knew what to do in the event of a crisis or major incident, whilst ensuring that customers’ needs were met.
Change Communications – I have worked on several change projects, some with difficult messages to convey to employees, such as redundancy. I’ve also worked on a large outsourcing project.
Corporate Responsibility – this included writing communications around the company’s environmental, working, community and risk policies, ensuring their meaning and relevant calls to action were apparent to its 7000 UK employees.
Charity communications – communicating both the fun aspect of fund raising and the more serious issues of the various charities the company donated to and funded. For eight years, I also ran the Comic Relief/Sport Relief phone lines, which the company supported. This involved training and managing the volunteers and ensuring all pledges were collected correctly and sent to Comic Relief.
I also worked in India on an assignment with a charity the company supported, to advise on their strategic communication plan. This involved setting up and implementing various communication channels, and training the Indian communication team in managing internal and external communications.
Event management – I have experience working with production companies and creative agencies to produce posters, invitations and banners, as well as script writing and pulling together slides for large scale business conferences for audiences, from 200 to 2000 people.
I’ve also arranged and managed large corporate parties, managing everything from concept and budget, to hiring acts and production, advertising to security for over 1000 people.
As well as this, I have also managed smaller events, chaired team meetings, facilitated training courses and charity conferences and events.
I am highly skilled in producing timely, high quality and cost-effective communications, including intranet articles, leadership messages, visibility programmes and compelling stories in text, video and audio.
